2 minute read
  1. flash both linux and dos iso into two separate usb sticks
  2. remove raid controller battery - and dont put it back
  3. factory reset bios, pull power, pull battery, completely clear all settings
  4. put DOS usb in first, and boot into it Get into system boot menu Enables you to enter System Setup (BIOS) . Enables you to enter system services and starts Lifecycle Controller (for iDRAC/Lifecyle Contoller enabled systems) Enables you to enter Boot Manager. Enables you to enter PXE Boot.
  • use UEFI boot menu to boot to the USB drive you want
  1. type info
  • this will show you SAS address, take a picture of it. you need to hold on to this SAS Address…
  • This is where i broke it
    • Did not read the ChipRevision
    • It clearly says B0
    • but i flashed the D1 version instead.. so.. FAILED the first time. ordered another card on ebay for $15, gonna have to wait.
  1. **CROSS, you’ll get some confirmation prompts
  • once you are done, and a prompt is asking to reboot. Just pull the power cable instead. push the power button a couple times to make sure everything is cleared.
  1. put in your linux usb stick and boot back up and get into the USB by using f11 for boot menu
  • make sure it is a UEFI boot again
  • did not do ipinfo because were dont need to ssh into it for a few quick commands
  • ran D1-H710 command, and after that issued a reboot then pulled the plug
  1. boot back again into linux and set the sas id
  • sudo su - then setsas XXXXXXXXX
  • flashboot /root/Bootloaders/x64sas2.rom to get UEFI and BIOS boot
    • it means access to all your HDD when you boot.
  • all is well!
